Information should be free. A terrific free resource for classic literature and older works is Project Gutenberg (PG). Is a mostly volunteer effort to digitally archive “cultural works.” It was founded in 1971 by Michael Hart and as of March 2009, there were over 28,000 items in its digital on-line collection in various languages with works in English being the most prevalent. PG would have saved me hundreds of dollars in college, if I had known of its existence. Instead of downloading a copy of Nietzsche or The Prince or Plato, I bought hugely overpriced and poorly bound copies at the campus bookstore. Books that could sometimes be traded back at the end of the semester for pennies, but usually were not on the official list of “buy back books.” Fucking Campus bookstores… I have downloaded a few titles over the years and they can be found below in plain text, HTML, MS Word and PDF formats.
